Exclusion Of Data

The topic is ignorance. What is it?

  • Ignorance is not knowing. Oblivious?
  • Making assumptions.
  • Poorly thought out ideas.

Interesting. What I know of ignorance is: It’s the exclusion of data.

When I would be the target of racial slurs. I was told pay no attention, they are only ignorant. Is true. Ignorance is quite mundane. Common.

It has been a term used to judge other cultures in the past. And most true, in fact, of “advanced” cultures.

The word ignore, though, is a very active verb. Implies intention. To ignore is to do something actively. It’s done actively and passively. I will go into that, though in the positive sense it’s called “adaptation.” Every day you are exposed to an incalculable stream of information, the bigger bulk of which you do not process. This serves a functional purpose. You don’t react to every little irrelevant sensory input. You just note the ones that signify something unusual or needing of attention.

Ignorance is narrow minded perhaps? Yes, and has nothing to do with your ability to assimilate new information. That’s your IQ, and totally independent of your degree of ignorance.

Selective processing saves us from insanity? Some might say that, and it’s perhaps in a sense true.

Knowingly or unknowingly, we do choose what we remain ignorant about. Yes, and we do so by cognitive screening, reflection. Specifically, our habits of reflection, which for most people are very poorly developed or so it seems to me. What do you think?

The ignorant person can be described as lacking reflection, yes. As a result, action without thinking that often points out ignorance.

Lacking, hmmm yes … ka ‘ike papa lua. “papa lua” is like seeing front and back, reverse and converse, simultaneously. Occurs in reflection passive, and observation active. “‘ike” is the smarts, psychically speaking. Quality of consciousness. And if it is in good order there is no ignorance, but extremely keen awareness.

Now, let’s take “psychic” experience, quality of consciousness. In the case of a person who is considered psychic, they tend to not be as well “adapted” to general daily circumstances. They have learned to make some observations based on their personal and perhaps unusual reactions to stimuli other people screen out.

But, if one is in lokahi with ka ‘ike papa lua, the adaptation to general daily is very balanced and on it. This we see in our very wise, almost unearthly wise ones. Lokahi is harmonics and live a very keen daily life. Yes. Seem to be creatures of a different order, like they are living more in the unseen world than the seen. Yet in the seen world are totally attuned, too. There are times I know when I am in both. I used to know and live this for most of life.

The opposite of ignorant is “to see.” Those who seem to see through you? Yes.

Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
