Simple truth, there is no such thing as absolute change. In any change that occurs in your life something always endures.
I was wondering about teeth clenching. It’s a habit I want to stop because it leads to headaches. Ok, tell me about the circumstances in which you experience teeth clenching, time and situation.
Usually at night. A lot of these problems do surface from sublimation at night which is in itself another alchemy term. So at night while in bed or before bed?
In bed or else when I’m concentrating intensely on a task like writing. Body posture? Sleeping on side. Muscles really loose? I can’t get a comfortable spot on the pillow. Ah yes, loose muscles leads to easier blockage of blood flow and more achy positions while in bed.
Do you experience clammy hands as well as jaw tension? Sometimes yes. You need heat, not light. A warm bath would work, but it has to be calm. The beat of a shower would worsen the condition.
You also need breath control either in some sort of meditative practice or just mindful even breathing. Breathing is something I’ve been working on. Being more conscious of when I’m holding it. You are holding your breath waiting for something to happen, and you are determined to “earn” it. That’s why you keep your “chin up.” The heat is also tears. In alchemy, they call this process distillation. Heat applied to cause water to rise above material impurities, physical tensions.
Heat is tears? Like a no pain no gain sort of attitude? Yes. You fear failure. You need to write trash. Write the worst crap you possibly can then take a nice hot bath. This is creating the distillation process on the personal level. Take the crappy writing with you to read in the tub.
I can do that. I will write it and even read it to my class tomorrow. Ah no, not read it to class, unless you really want to. But in distillation the trash matter is thrown away after being separated from the fluid, also known as spirit. You might even want to burn it if that’s convenient.
Do you do this distillation regularly to get the benefit? Or just when you feel tension. You do it for a lunar cycle. A month? Actually, your biological cycle is closer than a calendar month, and then leave it alone for a while. Repeat after that only as needed.
A 28 day lunar cycle. Yes. The process is done in 21 days, but by 28 the change should have set firmly.
Ok, more like a fertile cycle. My tension levels change as my cycle moves through. I can tolerate more at times and less at other times. Biology is one of those systems that exists in contagious relationship to outside systems.
So that old wives tale of ladies sharing the same menstrual cycle if they live or work closely with each other, is that truth? It is largely. Is that contagion? Yes, it is contagion on a flesh and blood level. The same as sympathetic yawning.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
