Not Unnatural
We are talking about gender/biological identification and how it relates to health and self discovery, but we find these in the context of the world family. We have survived as long as we have not for our normal humans. They tend to function sort of like deer caught in headlights. They just stand confused or just keep doing what they are doing. We have survived because some of our kind had natural traits so strong they couldn’t conform to our unnatural ideas and prejudices.
Every time someone does something “crazy”, we get a little glimpse of what we really are. When someone does something destructive, we are reminded, at least briefly, how much like a tiger in a cage human ideas make us, including ideas of gender identity. And honestly, the range of biological characteristics and psychological traits is so great I have to ask: What is man and why are the separate from woman? What is woman and why are they different than man in our minds?
The species wants to go on so it needs males and females. Woman gives birth. It needs these forms, male and female forms. This is truth, and it actually needs the diversity of females. In a beehive there is a majority of non-reproductive females, and it needs the diversity of males. Many species survive on the wandering habits and impulses of their males, but what is human nature?
What of our rules have any real substance? I can say the man who feels drawn to pair bonding with another man, he is not unnatural. The man who beds many women, he is not unnatural. The woman who leads her community and pair bonds with no one, she is not unnatural. The woman who feels that special bond with another woman, she is not unnatural.
Human hormonal response is not homogenous. This is a biological fact and it isn’t even about sexual preference. I am male, but due to a genetic condition my bodies sensitivity to testosterone is reduced. I don’t have much of a libido as compared to other men, but I am healthy.
If we think natural is the system by which the species reproduces itself, homosexuality is not natural? What is natural is that not all members of a species reproduce. This is a fact. Even in mammals a male may never successfully mate.
If you look to nature, all variations of sexual identity occur in nature. Yes, so it gets more complex in humans.
Is pair bonding dependant on hormonal response? Or you are pair bonded despite hormonal issues, so that bonding is more of a spiritual thing? Pair bonding is spiritual, yes.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
