Spirituality for Living

Rabbits! Rabbits get tense because they are paying so much attention, but they also relax because it’s their nature. Humans get tense because they are paying so much attention. It is false stimuli and loud noises, and because they have to keep “in touch with” reality they just stay tense. Rabbits would go extinct if they lived like that. We’re working on it.

I’m just tense because my mind doesn’t have an off button. Nope, tense because we believe the mind needs one. We take it too seriously and think it’s right. It’s really more like a TV set. I fall asleep if I watch mine too long.

I can’t stop thinking about stupid stuff. Good, let it help you fall asleep. People take their minds much too seriously. They are full of memories, of movies, TV, music, goofy arguments, petty insults, pointless job tasks…

I think therefore I am. Ooo, that is a scary thought. I think therefore I think I am my thoughts. Consciousness goes beyond that.  I admit I like to trash pick, but in the end I have to move on.

Then tell me, who are you if you don’t remember anything? I remember everything. It makes my self stick out more. It’s the only part that doesn’t really change.

But, metaphorically speaking? Ah, then you are you and able to choose anything and everything with a beginners mind.

Who are you if no one knows who you are? Still you and if any are paying attention they will see that to. They’re usually not.

I haven’t even full accepted this world exists to start with, no one can prove it to me. The mind cannot tell the difference between reality and something vividly imagined. This is a fact, so whatever world you think you are in is real for you. Maybe proof is false and everything else is true. Madness is like gravity, all it takes is a little push, and then you get back up and dust yourself off and keep walking.

What is important? The ideas are, and realizing that they are ideas and that you are the one who has the ideas. They are a common framework within which we can agree on what’s ‘real’, so we can actually get things done.

Isn’t that the easy way out? Nope, scary as hell. Your fears are ideas too.

Oh ok, but you do know God doesn’t exist right?   When your existence comes into question, you’ll call on any number of things or reject them all and realize they are still there. That old grey mare she ain’t what she used to be.

I refuse to prove I exist said God. ”What if God was one of us? Just a slob like one of us? Just a stranger on the bus.  Trying to make his way home?”
