Humour is truth. In anything you do remember to not take the path too ‘seriously’. We can play the game of life, but find the simple truths. In them is the wonder and amazement.
“It is my belief, you cannot deal with the most serious things in the world unless you understand the most amusing” Winston Churchill
“I have never understood why it should be considered derogatory to the Creator to suppose that he has a sense of humour.” W. R. Inge
“Humour is the weapon of unarmed people: it helps people who are oppressed to smile at the situation that pains them.” Simon Wiesenthal (Ukrainian born Austrian Activist, 1908-2005)
A lot is said about humour in a limited way, but humour like beauty is truth. We can find humour in all things, because in fact there is truth and beauty in all things. Just some might not be to our personal taste. When we call something ugly, all we are saying is it doesn’t suit us. The word is otherwise meaningless. How many who have a meditation practice find that they sometimes have fits of laughter? Myself, I do. When you see whatever passes through your mind in a natural way, in context, often what was so disturbing to… Seek More
Any great truth, the most powerful truths, are in fact very simple and often even a child shows an understanding of them. They make us laugh and say “aw, how cute”, and often we ignore them also. This is regrettable to my mind. Children can find joy in the simplest things, why supposedly do we not? Why is growing up supposedly just becoming a greyface? Too many overlook the simple things and forget how to laugh. Honestly, the complex things are the most absurd. It’s the simple things we should take the most seriously. Even the raging idiot you might… Seek More
What people are supposed to do is often what keeps the wheels of their life turning, like paying the bills, going to work. Wouldn’t they do it better if they worried about it less? Would it fall apart if we stopped? I think we fear that too much. Fear. There is a fine line between humour and horror. So do go to work. Do pay your bills. And don’t worry about it. Play the game and if the rules change, learn them and keep playing. The danger is in going to extremes. Humour is never an extreme. That’s the difference… Seek More
Humour can help us let go. This is why it heals. It makes us take pain less seriously and in fact as strange as it may sound, if it still hurts that’s a good thing. You’re still alive. You can still feel and grow. We laugh at things because they aren’t a real threat. We should laugh more. Really think on this. What if there are no problems? And there is no enemy anywhere? I recently saw ‘Dark Knight’ and there was a quote in it I like. I don’t like it’s normal counterpart. They say ‘what doesn’t kill us… Seek More
