'Magick' Articles
Magick, intuition, psychic…all of these things are intertwined so it can be hard to decide what one category it’s all a part of. Your intuition connects you to the psychic world and the magick that is there. Feel the energies and use them.
This section covers general magick discussion as well as the categories of Witchcraft, Image Magick, Colors of Magick, Food magick, Mind Magick, Elemental Magick, and Stealth Magick.
“We follow the mystics. They know where they are going. They, too, go astray, but when they go astray they do so in a way that is mystical, dark, and mysterious.” Ryszard Kapuscinski
“Disbelief in magic can force a poor soul into believing in government and business.” Tom Robbins (American Novelist. b.1936)
“That’s the thing with magic. You’ve got to know it’s still here, all around us, or it just stays invisible for you.” Charles de Lint (Celtic folk musician and story teller, b.1951)
Magick is a broad subject, but has a simple essence that gets lost terribly in many sources on the subject. Most people think of the human body and mind as somehow closed systems, but in fact this is very far from the case. We absorb the material and reflexively the essence of all the elements, even without thinking about it. There is a phrase in hermetic philosophy, which is a literal truth though it is also somewhat confusing for people. As above so below, as within so without. In magick you develop an understanding of interconnections and how you influence… Seek More

If people barely are able to control their feelings , their thoughts and their actions, how can we hope to achieve a magickal act? Your emotions are linked to external energies. When you recognize the connection, then you see that you are acted upon and can act in kind. Astrology is based on observations of how natural cycles affect human spirit, using the stars as mnemonic devices and a clock of the cycle. Truth be told, many people act very little. They tend to live rather reactively. How can one learn to be more attuned to the energies around? Our… Seek More

Using the energies is sort of like being in a gently flowing river. Most people are blown about by the winds or washed away with the waters, but you can see that the winds and the waters, the elements and the spirits, are not separate from you. Often, when the energies seem to rebel, when your “luck” seems to be going abnormally bad, it isn’t the forces of the world acting on you. It’s them obeying you and your own energies are arrayed in a self destructive way. You put your will out, and because you believe you are powerless,… Seek More

It’s actually quite interesting how very far from gone witchcraft is. It wasn’t really shamanism, and wasn’t driven by a tribal view of nature. The phrase old wives tales for example. It does not always refer to the lore of witchcraft. Women in particular, and to a lesser degree men, have been making intuitive observations about life for a very long time. Even in myth there have been witches. Hell in Norse myth, cerydwen, circe, those who live apart and know the seemingly unknown. Men make poor gods, but we keep to this day making men gods. They disconnect from… Seek More

We still practice magic today. They just call it science and reject the original context. Thus they poison everyone silly. How is science different? That they experiment without prejudice would be a lie. Scientific hypotheses has as much intuition as reason behind it. Even Einstein said so, and the students of magic didn’t turn a blind eye to results. Science is empirical, but how does that make it better? A simple mistake of getting their math wrong can lead to a great tragedy. Mistaken interpretation of the strictly empirical can and does do that daily. It is not a protection. Many scientists… Seek More

Image magic is another one of those so simple it’s complicated topics. The basic premise behind image magic is that any image cannot be imagined or created without a connection to the object, place, or person being involved. That all we see stems from the same source as our ability to create images. Image magic is perhaps the oldest form of magic ever practiced. Cave paintings show signs of other things being done to them, and it is possible it predates even “verbal” humanity. To connect it to the modern online virtual world of Second Life from the point of… Seek More

Images serve as a mirror. Image magic works by what is called in hermetic philosophy, the law of sympathy. Like affects like. When you see something in the world that is in you, you actualize what is in you in the world. The law of attraction is also in it. Images in the mind attract physical experiences of that image. There is a reason why there are so many images inside a pyramid, they were not art for people to see. People use movie imagery to describe things in life commonly, and it isn’t silliness or immaturity. The spirit of… Seek More

Truth cannot be proven or disproven. It is simply a truth. All truths are real and not real at the same time. Third point of the hermitic triangle, and magical symbols are in essence very simplified image magic. You have the hypothesis, your paradigm or world view, and you have the antithesis which is actually in your head. And you often project onto the world what you feel things are not, or should not be. The truth is in the synthesis. That both are expressions of your own soul and brought about by that power in you. Can you be… Seek More

There’s this space you can get into where things go at super speed and you’re really there. It is similar to trance, full immersion, and it isn’t necessarily detached. In the martial arts they teach a sort of awareness of the moment, where you are totally immersed in the encounter. This is how you effectively apply the skills they teach to experience the great life force, the great ki or chi. In Taoism they speak of everything in life having its own way. A flow that transcends even the role of the participants. Like getting into a conversation and though… Seek More

You have probably heard the terms “white magic” and “black magic”. What are your thoughts on that? Doesn’t the black and white model seem really off? The conventional notion is that white is good, and black is bad. It’s in all the fairy tales. Yes, this is in the modern telling. The older stories aren’t that cut and dried, and there aren’t just two domains of energy or spiritual forces. Just as there aren’t just two colors in the world, the energy goes all over the place, and they all have their own ways. There are many paths of mystical/magical/spiritual… Seek More
