'Relaxation' Articles

Relaxation is the key to what is perhaps our most primal wisdom. Your whole being seeks relaxation, not because it wants to stop/die, but because it wants to throw off abnormal patterns and ideas, artificial toxic tensions. This is a normal healing drive that allows your body and mind, no matter how messed up they are, to “reset”.

Tension is the extension of energy outside of balance. An effort at over extension in order to grasp and control what is ultimately outside of our reach. We developed patterns of trying to be and do without returning to the non-being, non-doing state.

“Relaxation means releasing all concern and tension and letting the natural order of life flow through one’s being” Donald Curtis

“If a man insisted always on being serious, and never allowed himself a bit of fun and relaxation, he would go mad or become unstable without knowing it.” Herodotus

Door To Internal Wisdom

Today, we are going to talk about relaxation. Does everyone know what relaxation is? Is that the state of perfect balance? Well, balance is always inherently perfect, as far as that goes. I think I do. But then when I feel it, I realize I didn’t know before. Relaxation is perhaps one of the core traits of wisdom. This is why we are often uncomfortable when someone seems to have “a stick up their butt.” Something tells us their judgement is impaired, and that instinct is correct. Relaxation is the door to all internal wisdom as relaxation is embracing the… Seek More

Analysis of Tension: Panic Attacks

Who would like to discuss their tension? You each can, just please go one at a time. I get anxiety that builds up into bad panic attacks. Sometimes it’s just too hard to relax all the time. Go on. What else do you experience? In between, it’s being on edge all the time. Like everything’s going out of control is the feeling. This is why it keeps happening. And it’s building right now, so you’ll have to excuse my briefness on that. It is likely linked to a deeply rooted set of memories. Your tensions are memories, all of them.… Seek More

Analysis of Tension: Being Good

Ready to share your tensions? Wasn’t she next? Doesn’t matter to me. Me either. Yes, it does. You just shared one of your tensions, so I will go with it. You are having trouble reconciling your desire for autonomy with your desire to be loved, and cannot reconcile the tension between the two. This is manifesting as chronic lower back pain and sensory dulling, as well as bad sleep. Well, I am on the verge of a job interview and it’s making me antsy. That was a defense. You aren’t worried about your interview, and in fact, you give people… Seek More

Analysis of Tension: Anal Retentive

I’m having some physical issues. One of my meds can affect the immune system, so normally minor things are out of control, and I’m feeling fear and anxiety. There was eczema all over my arms and legs and it was really itchy. Now it’s only on my hands and they are swollen, itchy and painful, which puts me on edge. It’s been like this for weeks and I am afraid it will never stop. There is also a wound on my leg that isn’t serious, but it’s become infected, so I have to sit with my leg up to decrease… Seek More

Social Tension

Today’s topic is relaxation. In the last class, I started by asking if anyone was tense. This time I will ask if anyone is relaxed. If you are relaxed, how do you know when you are relaxed? For me, it’s a feeling like my being is somehow elastic, and the rubber band has been allowed to snap back. For me, it’s if I don’t feel like I’m holding anything back, fully relaxed into the environment. Last night I had a strange feeling in my chest. I think it was a relaxation I wasn’t familiar with. Being at ease in any… Seek More

Our Natural State

Every tension you have in your body, every idea you have about your body, is directly linked not only to other people, but to life and the world itself. You will judge food according to your tensions. You will judge choices the same way, as well as people. With the strain and pain of tension, literally nothing is clear. Relaxation is the key to what is perhaps our most primal wisdom. Tension is the extension of energy outside of balance. An effort at over extension in order to grasp and control what is ultimately outside of our reach. We developed patterns… Seek More

Active Relaxation

I like the focus on relaxation having an active component. And I will focus on active relaxation now. It is possible to actively relax. Anyone ever actively try to clear their head? If so, how did you do it? There is a reason for some thoughts to come back over and over again. Ever tried to take a close look at those thoughts? I would not say they come back pointlessly, I believe if they come back they are trying to tell me something and they always do. Recurrent thought returns because of the tension your inner self is trying… Seek More
