You Are Desire

The secret behind mastering purple magick is the under- standing that you don’t do desire. It’s not something that happens to you either. You are desire. Can you desire something you have never seen? For most people no, not in their experience. But actually, yes you can. That’s the deep mystery behind purple magick. The musician desires the song they haven’t written yet. The painter desires the picture they haven’t painted yet. The inventor desires the tool or gadget or other finished product they haven’t made yet. Is this not so?

It’s the motivation. It’s power, a power greater than single individuals, greater than the person who expressed it in the single instance. Martin Luther King desired a future he hadn’t begun shaping yet, so did Gandhi. How was this possible for them?

They began by dreaming. Allowing themselves to behave as if what they sought was possible. At first they have to start small. They don’t start out spewing their message to everybody from day one. They first convince themselves. It’s how they find the strength to speak their message in the first place. Then they begin to move beyond the personal ritual, those private thoughts and words to self, and begin sharing their ideas with small groups. Asking for cooperation or support in activity that at first is experimental. Eventually, that grows more powerful in that others begin to contribute their energy of desire to it. They begin desiring it as a community, as a people, perhaps in time as a nation. To date, nothing has succeeded on a world wide scale yet, or at least nothing of much real worth. Is this fair to say? But it’s still possible.

I wonder if it ever will happen, or if it needs to happen? I think the reason it hasn’t is simple. The world speaks for itself. Is their unified desire for anything in it? I will admit I may be wrong. I personally have seen no such unified desire and I would like to.

I think the reason it hasn’t manifested yet, is that even those who begin a flow in the web of desire, have only a limited inkling as to what it is they are tapping into or working with. But even that limited understanding is a powerful thing. Those they reach, those who are moved by promise behind that desire, the change it has to offer, contribute a trickle of the same energy, and these flows do pool together. It creates marks on the metaphysical landscape much like a spontaneous flood can even if it’s the first that occurred there in a long time and will be the last there for an equally long time. The marks are still left. Do we want to stop at that? Perhaps so. Is it what serves us best?

Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
