What matters is what you did and what you learned, not what you had. Now what you have can influence what you are able to do, so that seems a good guideline for getting. So matter matters to the degree it is energy. If you go rescue a friend or loved one from being stranded somewhere with your car, the car mattered just not directly.
Our bodies need certain conditions; food, shelter and continuation of those to the offspring. Do we add on many illusory needs beyond that? I think that is a grey area. I won’t say we don’t, but I would say self expression is a need. To be able to do. To move and act in the world isn’t an illusory need. A friend told me of a Saudi prince’s silver Audi, not silver colour, a silver Audi. That was an illusory need. The idea of privilege being hereditary. Self-expression is self-evident. it can only be restricted. So is freedom from restriction not a need? Honestly, there is no motile organism that can’t be driven mad by being restricted from acting on its nature. Even non motile organism will die if too restricted.
Matter exists because energy exists. Thought exists because energy exists. All sensory impressions are mental projection. There is no translation of stimuli outside of cognitive function, but I would argue there are stimuli outside of sensory stimulation.
A friend said it well, ‘serve your self from the matter platter, before the options splatter shatter’. Serve yourself from matter, don’t serve matter. I think that summarizes the quandary does it not? One cannot serve both god and mammon, spirit or matter. Matter serves spirit or spirit serves matter. Right now for most, spirit serves matter. A demonized spirit supposedly governing the bounty of matter.
Is there any spiritual reality, or is meaning in matter? Matter is mutable making any insight shallow. Does that mean no insight is possible? If so why do we have questioning minds?
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
