Okay Worry

God knows, there’s enough to worry about without worrying about worrying about things. Edward Gorey

What I’m Hanging Hope On Today: We are virtually ordered to control ourselves.

Feelings arise naturally and automatically and we are fortunate to not have conscious control of that. If we are consciously responsible for that, we would miss big parts of our living experience just like we frequently lose important details whenever we consciously analyze problems or situations. The social expectation that we remain clear headed and objective about anything in question is based on a blatant falsehood.

If you examine all human interaction and register every relevant detail, you will find that every individuals behavior proceeds more from their feelings than it does directly from their conscious thought. Thoughts and imaginings stem more from the person’s current state of being than they do from any deliberately acquired information. It’s as if society believes that artificially constructed “knowledge” and poorly directed pattern recognition is more useful than flesh and blood sensation, clear orientation, and innate procedural memory.

We owe our survival to being, at heart, sensitive, reflective and ultimately non-rational beings.

It’s gonna be okay. What do you say?
