Can we find personalities anywhere? Are they stockpiled somewhere in nature or in human institutions? Can anyone ever follow that advice to “get a life” even if they are willing?
Personality is all around us, because it’s non local. It is personal, but not confined, not fixed in any specific form. This is why a fire can look angry perhaps, or a pond, calm.
That explains how people can have a radical alteration in personality. Become a different person, as they say.
I hear a lot of people say that a room or a natural place has a personality, or even their old car.
Even science supports this insight. We align our personalities with the objects of awareness we experience at any given moment. The persona I am to my wife in our private moments is not the person I am to the cashier at the Wal-Mart. Have any of you found that there was any single trait that defined you at every moment without exception? Anything you can point at and say “I am that, always”?
There is something that feels to be core to me, although I am at a loss for words to describe it. I can feel it though. A connection to others.
The passive moments are restful. Trying to define every feeling can be a bit tiring. It can be, especially when your feelings can change as fast as the temperature in any given space, or as quick as a light switch flips.
We share our awareness with anyone we share a moment with. In this moment, you are sharing your awareness with me, and I with you. Is there an I there that is not also you?
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
