Civility
What allows us to believe in society is some idea that we share values in common. Before economy, there was novelty and rebellion during the renaissance era which was working alongside fidelity. Fidelity is also known as loyalty, and what gives rise to sentiments like nationalism. What it boils down to is we have to believe in something.
You have to trust humanity. We are literally dependant on each other. There is a feeling. We need to return that sense to our awareness. We need to sense spirit in our world again, and not paint everything gray with abstract economically drive intellectualism.
“So let us begin anew – remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof” John Fitzgerald Kennedy (American 35th US President (1961-63), 1917-1963)
“When once the forms of civility are violated, there remains little hope of return to kindness or decency” Samuel Johnson (English Poet, Critic and Writer. 1709-1784)
