Abyss

Reality has a threshold where what we take for reality ceases to behave in what we consider a rational way. It isn’t underneath your feet. It isn’t even outside of your body. It permeates all the safe and sane structure we call reality. Nothing disappears. When it shifts into the abyssal threshold it becomes suspended in time and space, preserved for all intents and purposes indefinitely.

Ever hear the phrase, “All your sins remembered”? Your sins are stress events in the web of energy and life. They imprint themselves on the surface of the abyss.

“Man looks in the abyss, there’s nothing staring back at him. At that moment, man finds his character. And that is what keeps him out of the abyss.”
Hal Holbrook

“The cradle rocks above an abyss, and common sense tells us that our existence is but a brief crack of light between two eternities of darkness.”
Vladimir Nabokov (Russian born American Novelist, 1899-1977)
