Theosophy
Theosophy is originally another term for theology. It is a very old term. The original discussions of theosophy and its relevance stem from a world view that saw the concept of divinity as both a devotional and a naturalistic issue. Even before the terms formal use this sort of thinking was present in classical philosophy. The works of Plato and Aristotle did include what is ultimately theosophical reasoning.
All “fantasy” was seen as divinely inspired even if the individual failed to properly understand or make use of this. You can still see this sort of thinking echoed even in the early America’s – the works of Edison and people like them. This is often why they pursued invention so passionately. In a sort of round about sense the creation and implementation of their inventions was seen as a divine mission.
