I will open with a question. What is best in life?
Variety.
There are no wrong answers to this question. It’s the question itself that matters.
I have a strong urge to give Conan’s answer. To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of de wimmens (in a thick accent). Well, even crushing your enemies has a variety of potential interpretations. If they are made dead then they can’t really be driven before you.
I think the best in life is relationships with others.
So, what is the best thing to do in life? What activity has the most worth?
Spreading love.
Giving back. And that is todays subject.
Just being. Being creates freedom for further being, so indeed, just being can be a form of giving.
You give yourself with just being. Yes. The potential responses you have, the potential perception and even insight. These can be valuable at times, even lifesaving. So everything in the world is constantly involved in getting, no?
In a way, yes, if only food and shelter, getting air, water… Everything is interdependent on other things. Even plants need some measure of shade which is shelter. But in all this getting can life endure if that was the only thing that anything ever did?
On one level of our range of existence, life will always provide if you hand over your own existence to it. Seems a functional inevitability, no? You exist as life so you continue to exist through life’s action on your person.
But then again if you are coming from another place e.g. the next world war, what is happening in our skies etc. then the earth could just get rid of us. Very true.
My reason for asking about getting or receiving is it is a vital counterpart to giving. You cannot properly understand the one without the other, because to have any receiving, you have to answer “receiving what?” The world endures through a variety of balances, or at least endures in the way we understand things.
So we have to be aware to have receiving? Indeed. Receiving without awareness is the same as waste. But it isn’t as simple as a linear equation is it?
It’s like we have heard before. Reject the gift is to reject the giver.
I guess that must be why people become jaded with getting things? No awareness? Exactly.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
