I don’t know about you my friends, but my life was almost entirely dominated by a concern over habits. Make a habit, break a habit, but never ignore habit.
I say habit is not a definition of wholeness. It’s a vestigial relic of an antiquated consciousness that is being exploited to control us. We have to feel guilty about our habits or form newer better habits to prove we are a person of worth. Anyone have any luck with that?
No one ever will. There is only one way we can have that sense of worth, that sense of wholeness, and that is in the experience of self. Not the experience of roles. Not the rehashing of old memories. As valuable as these may be, they are secondary. We have to have the experience of self, and not make choices based on what we are used to, or what we have been conditioned to believe is an acceptable choice.
When you are in a situation where you can have a cookie, and you have the experience of wanting to have the cookie, you should have the cookie. If in that situation you do already know that there is something personally wrong with you having a cookie, like it making you sick to your stomach, then that is a valid reason to not have that cookie. But is it unfair of me to say that all other reasons should be damned? Forgotten as worthless? Is any experience more vital than the experience of self? I am open to revelation there.
Media reports of nutrition moving though my mind. My prison. They were saying eggs were bad for a long time, now they say they are good. They change that information all the time, but is anything better than the experience of how you feel after having eaten eggs? They have actually said that long walks are bad.
And they need scientific studies to determine if a walk in the park is good for you. They’ve taken away the authority of my self. Everything has to be objectified. When everything is objectified then am I alive? Are you? Is my original thought not real? If not, then how is learned thought real? Didn’t I learn that with my original thinking?
Humanity can own itself, or be owned by its self image. We have experienced the latter. How do you like it my friends?
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
