Light Relics

What is it behind these notions of the sacred that some would cling to them for dear life? If it became universally accepted that nothing is sacred, would we prosper? Can we survive without some sense of meaning?

Ultimately, we have to come to recognize things held in common. We have to have some form of common ground and common culture. The sacred is felt to have existed and still exist in a state that supports all of our other reality. Though we can’t measure or define the sacred well, we keep making up sacred things. What we need in order to strengthen ourselves and the world is to recognize this inspiration, foster it when it occurs in people around us, and choose to expose ourselves to these works even if we don’t feel we can be a part of the creative process.

“I believe in nothing, everything is sacred. I believe in everything, nothing is sacred.” Tom Robbins (American Novelist. b.1936)

“For the sake of it, you journey to sacred shrines and holy rivers; but this priceless jewel is within your own heart.” Sri Guru Granth Sahib
