Sacred Creation

On sacred creation, light relics… Every time we cast our minds onto the contemplation of the great mysteries, despite all the personal noise that gets mixed up in that, the ideas that do nothing more than satisfy our personal prejudices and preferences, something else always creeps in. As a favourite song of mine puts it, “There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.” (Anthem by Leonard Cohen)

Faith? No. It isn’t faith. Faith might give you the motivation to begin seeking. It may even give you the strength to keep seeking when you might otherwise be discouraged, but faith alone doesn’t reveal the sacred, or create it. It’s something stranger than seeking and finding, buying and selling, all the things that seem to define our lives. When one seeks from the heart, the world itself responds, revealing truths not because of your seeking, but despite it. It is paradoxical I know, but seeking is just a communication.

As they say, you find it when you stop looking? But you still had to start, commit and strive first.

Are you talking about allowing? No resistance? You become it that way, yes? Yes. I am not saying people should cast aside their art, their forms and speculation, their observances and stories, quite the opposite actually. These are vital. We are creatures of this process of form making. We have to express this urge in ourselves.

I suppose it is a factor in what makes something “priceless.” Ancient art is usually priceless. Is that because of its sacredness to human history? We reveal the chapel of the soul, the landmarks of our original being and our path. The reason we lose sight of the sacred is we are looking at things backwards. We see effects and insist they are causes, and when we see causes we insist they are hallucinations, whims or fantasies or wishful thinking. This doesn’t make any sense to me personally.

The reward is in the journey. Especially considering there is no ultimate destination, but how do we know there is any reality behind this stuff at all? The answer is simple and subtle, and thus it tends to be rather challenging.

Ever notice that in all of our efforts to define and subscribe the sacred to our thinking, it seems to have a mind of its own? Ever just let go and have a full blown rage at god? What happened?

Nothing except I felt better for letting out the anger. There was no lightening shot through the clouds. Did you notice after your rage that you felt a strange sense of space around you? Almost like someone listening to and staring at you? Sort of asking if you were done yet?

Yes, I did come to think of it. I looked in the mirror and felt that. That was the sacred I speak of.

Let the toddler have his tantrum. Yes, that is what it does.

It is a presence beyond any definition of intelligence. It gives rise to all intelligent forms in reality, and we seek only to give ourselves sensory contact points when we are of clear intention. You saw it in the mirror, and in fact, the Japanese have a long standing tradition of using mirrors for that purpose. People have also seen it in sacred pools while standing under the open sky.

I usually end up laughing when I’ve had a rant. It’s a good laughter, no? Do you wonder what you were laughing at?

It’s like when you laugh at the bratty child, kind of agreeing with the parent that they are brats, but lovable brats. Yes. You can remember that human beings do have a place. Strangely, it often takes those rants to exhaust people enough that they really start listening. Otherwise, they spend a great deal of time believing things. It’s a very popular activity this believing in stuff.

Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
