Why People Are Like That Today: People take a strange pleasure in mentally debasing not only those parts of reality they reject, but also those parts they esteem. They will rant about the sanctity of one value or another, but when whatever they are boasting as sacred becomes too defining, and thereby confining, most will be all too eager to back pedal on their statements.
In the name of wisdom, they will attempt to obfuscate their sacred principles with a variety of rationalizations, from the supposed exception that somehow proves their rule, to passive aggressive denunciation by passing off their infidelity to their beliefs as human nature.
People like myself are ridiculed for supposedly being obsessive about their perceptions, but if the norm is to take their so called clarity and vandalize it for the sake of ego comfort, then it isn’t any wonder they say people are their own worst enemy.
If being functional means living in a world where nothing comes without a petty label and grade on it, I’ll take my obsessions, thank you very much.
In My Humble Opinion. What’s yours?
