When Jesus went into his meditative retreat, it came to mind that he could claim power. He was being heralded as the next King of Israel, as well as the messiah, and he confronted these. He didn’t just ward himself against the devil, nor was his purity evident in being untouched by darkness, but quite the opposite. When he was touched by darkness, and saw as was his gift to see, he reaffirmed the deeper truth. Even in the Bible Jesus knew anger. They are really very blunt about it, but even still his actions differed in spirit. He acted on truth rather than ego, and the effect was very different.
What would Jesus do (wwjd)? It seems the first and last part of any story in his life was listening. Do we listen now? Do we seek to see the truth now? In ourselves first? As they say, seek not to remove the cinder in your neighbours eye, before first removing the timber in your own, and judge not lest you be judged by the same measure. The measure of hate is destruction, exclusion, correcting wrong rather than supporting the right. It is an us and them, instead of just life.
Judgement is a projection of the ego onto something outside of us? Yes, and the world measured by ego. How many people talk about how bad life is? How many people talk about how the weather is with genuine interest?
All victims with a story talk about it. Yes, and can you be a victim without hate? I would say then, you aren’t a victim. You just had an unfortunate circumstance happen, and they tend not to repeat.
The hate would come after the assault? Yes, hate comes after the assault, and doesn’t free the victim from the assailant, but quite the opposite. And then the idea of being righteous … oh my God, what evils have been done in the name of righteousness?
Wouldn’t feeling like a victim instil fear? They can claim they are entitled to feel as they do, and well they are right, but they are also wrong. What can be learned is that they have that in them, and that it isn’t right to reject how they feel. Rejection doesn’t carry you past it. The wall you deny is there will block you just as certain as if you look at it. But if you look at it, and claim your right to look at it, then you can find the door, or discover that you have an option that doesn’t include the wall, doesn’t include hate, but you can’t make that choice until you let yourself consciously make the choice. No amount of penitence or guilt will make you a good boy or girl. No rejection will make you any more enlightened. Repentance is a knowing action. Not saying “Well, I didn’t mean to”, or “I didn’t know”. It’s saying “That happened, and I did this in response, and I won’t choose to keep doing that”. Is it very complicated? Is it really very hard? It is if we keep to our ego.
Why is everyone fighting against it? Ego. They feel all things stem from the ego. From what they think they are, and what they think they can do, and they are right, but there are a lot of things that are true. The wall is very solid, and if I fixate on how solid and blocking the wall is, I will be very stuck. If you fixate on how right your world view and view of yourself is, you restrict a lot of what is just as readily available to you. Just because you aren’t paying attention. It’s really that simple.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
