Was Picasso “wrong” to put cows’ heads on women? Or was that Chagall? Some would swear emphatically that he was, would even accuse him of misogyny.
I don’t think the cows forgave him, actually. Cows are very tolerant beings, excellent examples of ahimsa if not perfect examples. So let’s look at that just for a moment.
Ahimsa is the Hindu concept of harmlessness, which they more or less equate with holiness. This is why they revere cows, perhaps not unlike some revere the cross. But when cattle startle and stampede, they are not perfectly harmless, are they? But we still intuit their general essential harmlessness, no?
Yes, no evil thoughts.
Demons are often looking like bovines though. This is true. One of the guardians of jigoku is a bull headed being. Jigoku = hell.
Is there a reason for that? There is, they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
But they aren’t the Chicago cows. They are the bulls. They have to keep their masculinity I guess. That is somehow more appropriate.
Now let’s look at humans. Considering absolute adherence to the ideal and the expected is impossible. Is this not fair to say?
Let’s say someone could be the perfect citizen, never miss a beat and always do everything that is expected of them, no exceptions, none, what would that person be like?
A statue.
Stressed.
It depends on the society in which they live. Ah, there are some more “naturally” structured societies.
Easily broken when they do miss a beat.
Would probably have a whole lot of demons in the closet, though.
Uptight, unforgiving.
This perfect citizen would perhaps become the world’s biggest monster. Is this fair to say?
Yes, hating everyone else for not living up to their standard. My own policy is indulge lest compulsion come to rule your life, but how well do we indulge ourselves? If we do, then how much compulsive behavior do we deal with? If not, then why don’t we?
Well perhaps I’m getting ahead of myself.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
