Friendship is seen among other living creatures. This is a fact. In Canada, there is a bird that teams with wolverines. It has even developed a call that is specifically wolverine attention getting. They lead them to trees because they know the wolverine will knock a bee hive down. It’s hunting, just cooperation. The wolverine knocks down the hive and eats the honey. The bird eats the wax.
People that choose to be reclusive are often misjudged as being bad people, or people that prefer animals to people friends. I can understand why. Animals don’t expect much, just love and attention.
I have aspergers syndrome as you all know, which makes psychiatrists say I have a hard time making friends. But I have a natural gift for interacting with animals. How could that be?
Do you have a hard time with human friends? Harder time with humans, yes. They are less receptive.
My son is on the spectrum as well. Interesting. You can hold out hope for him. Just understand that he needs to find his own way and to be loved despite whatever strangeness he might show.
Animals don’t have social cues. They just come or not, feel safe with you or not, there are no special words to understand. You can just “Be” with animals. Actually, animals do have social cues. Animals don’t have pointless obfuscation.
I get frustrated with humans because they want me to jump through fiery hoops of their own thought, all the while denying what they are feeling and even how they are behaving.
Or talk in complex puzzles instead of just saying what they want or mean, and heaven forbid you point it out to them. One of the aspects of aspergers is being what others consider insensitively blunt, but there is a reason for this. We have a difference in neural architecture. We don’t have the system that routes our emotions through our thinking. Instead, emotion is immediate and palpable. This is why we are considered hot tempered in part.
The other side of that is people with aspergers are considered paranoid. The reason we are seen as paranoid is that your emotional state presents itself to us the same way our own does. So when your words contradict that, it’s hard not to see everyone we deal with as crazy.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
