We can now look at the roots of human spirituality. We can look at the spiritual tendency as a whole, and we can choose practices that reflect the whole truth of human existence as well as the truth of the individual. You can look at the spiritual instinct in the interpersonal to better understand the intrapersonal spiritual life.
Your spiritual life to best serve your needs can give you a ground for dealing with your relationships. It also needs to give you a sense not only of the strengths of your “family”, but what you can share with them to contribute best to everyone’s well being. Strategy starts with “factors”. The respective “enduring”, if not concrete elements of the reality you are dealing with, then puts the decision and plan making on you. We know the factors.
Earth, air water and fire? The elements, the personality types, the genetic types. We know the “what” very well. We should not make the mistake of deferring the “why” to outside factors, or setting up authorities that are not any better equipped to decide for us than we are to decide for ourselves.
Does this make spiritual practice a set of arbitrary decisions? Not at all. It reconnects spiritual practice to the individual. If you have a prayer practice, you are praying for your own reasons. If you observe one or more rituals, you do so to serve your own mindfulness and to share in the awareness with others, because you will even have spiritual relationships with others. If you develop a broad spiritual world view it will be one that is informed by your spiritual experience, and gives you a clear and living source of guidance for your decision making. But everyone needs to start from this very real “theatre of war” that our spiritual dramas play out in.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
