A Disposition of One’s Awareness

Reality is an agreement? Well, in a sense yes. And in fact surface reality is indeed an agreement, but there is a reality underneath the one people interact in, beneath “real life” and the human psychodrama that plays out in it. We connect with each other for the same reason nature maintains a balance, an equilibrium, and at the hidden level of reality, those symbols that we use to tell our stories have greater meaning. Fairy tales and morality stories have a deeper reality than peoples autobiographies. The rules of the fairy tale affect us still, but we twist them.

By “deeper reality” are you referring to agreed-upon archetypes? Actually, implicit archetypes. The outward visible manifestations are not absolutely relevant. Life likes life. Life likes to live. This is the agreement, but it requires no actual consent. It’s our innate nature.

They’re there whether we agree or not? They precede normal human consciousness, and give rise to the primal potentials of the human mind. But fairy tales, ever notice how strangely rule heavy they are? Almost like the characters are playing a game of some sort?

A tight focus? Yes, a machine if you will, and the machine has “ghosts” in it. We live in a world that is, or at least once was, balanced according to a set of influences that would have allowed for optimal actualization of the potential in everything and everyone. We have our complex feelings and intuitions as readily as we take note of things in our environment through our sight, or at least once did.

Kindness is a natural flow or should be? Yes. Kindness is effortless when it stems from your own sense of your personal integrity, your sense of your own souls wholeness or health. It’s why we experience the truth behind, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”

In Buddhism, they have a practice of loving kindness. It doesn’t have to be focused on at all as a practice if you don’t want, but as one Buddhist teacher said, it’s a natural outcome of mindfulness that will arise anyway. Exactly. It’s a big part of the natural geography of spiritual reality.

Can a hermit be kind or does kindness require two or more people? A hermit can be kind, because kindness is not about relating to any specific person or thing. It’s a disposition of one’s own awareness, an openness and sensitivity to the world around them. The kind hermit will not despoil whatever little patch of the wilderness they have taken residence in. The kind hermit will feel rapport for the flowers and trees.

You can sense a kind person is with you before you have any real interaction. An unkind person will automatically make you tense also before any interaction.

Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
