There is no such thing as action and non action. The opposition there of, I mean. This is why non-action is such a good practice. When you step back from your acting, your words, or your agenda, like in meditation you can come to realize that nothing has actually stopped, and nothing actually does.
People perpetuate the social stigma that we have to basically ignore being acted on. We can’t admit it at work for example, but if we do admit it we find the world doesn’t end so the trap is an illusion. Yes. It’s that phrase “know your place and shut your mouth.” It’s very bad advice. Not the knowing your place, that’s good advice. It’s how you go to the next place, but know your place and call out. Never “shut your mouth”. If you shut your mouth you aren’t doing your part. The notion that children should be seen and not heard is the beginning of a great evil.
It’s twisted horribly. I’ve been in meetings where people were simply rude, but the spin is that ‘it’s a spirited discussion’ and we start to buy the BS. That has lead to heart disease, and mental illness.
Do you need guidelines on what to say? Accept that what you will say has a consequence. If you do, then you might not want that consequence. If you don’t want that consequence, do you really want to say it? What to say, or what not to say, is as simple as what to do, or what not to do.
What do you think about being quiet if you aren’t meditating or relaxing? You’re not admitting something. You know it, but won’t face it when you’re quiet. People are usually not quiet for their own purposes, and when they are quiet for their own purposes then no one would really be confused. Like if you are watching the sunrise, this is an example of quiet for your own purposes.
Sometimes they are quiet, because they have nothing to say? If you have nothing to say you have something to do. The heart and mind are a flow with feelings and thoughts, and your blood keeps flowing. Sometimes it’s true, and you just don’t want to speak, but you are always communicating.
Or feel you don’t have anything to contribute? Ah, that’s a value judgement usually. You are always contributing. The great way, nature, or God, whatever you want to call it, made that decision for you. It is why you are here. So there is no such thing as nothing to contribute. Ever sit and just watch something?
I can stay silent, and pretend I am a deep thinker. The deep thinker knows they are just watching. I have sat and just watched something. A lot of people took note for a reason I don’t understand really, but they didn’t ask me any questions. Know what they did? They slowed down, and started looking around, or noticed what I was watching and watched it too. Did I do something? I would say I wasn’t doing anything really. Did I contribute nothing?
You were in communion, and they recognized it’s call. Or plain niele = curiosity. We are curious critters. And curiosity is good, and me just sitting watching something created that opening.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
