In chi cultivation you consider two things, primarily. How you are holding your chi and where you are gathering it from. Poor quality chi is seen as more or less poisonous and will deplete your strength. High quality chi, like you might absorb standing next to a pure mountain stream taking in clean mountain air, would make you stronger.
What is meant by quality? Is it to do with honesty? Lies make you weak? It has to do with honesty, yes, but isn’t defined by honesty. Chi is strong if it’s harmonious, or at least focused. It’s weak if is unfocused or turned in on itself.
Weak chi makes you doubt yourself? Yes, whereas strong chi would be watching yourself, self-awareness or reflection, but a temperamental hot head… Would that be strong chi or weak chi?
Could be either? It is only weak. Having a yang temperament isn’t the same as what people in the west call being temperamental. So the person who is chronically throwing fits is dissipating their energy or chi and are routinely subject to burn out, which makes them vulnerable to chi shifts, which makes them frustrated and angry again, until yet again they burn out.
How a yang person is different from that is they are centered. They radiate heat like a fire, but they don’t expend their energy in brief storms or activity. They express their chi and by energizing the world around them, well… What happens when you dry things out around a fire?
Steam. Yes, which is a chi state also, and eventually the fire grows. It can wind up consuming a whole forest. But fire chi and anger chi are connected. They share the same basic quality, so why do they behave differently?
One is focused and the other isn’t? Yes. Fire chi flows and anger chi forces.
One radiates and warms towards and one lashes out frenetically? Yes, exactly.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
