Endless Struggle

In trying to ‘non do’ you find yourself doing, again back to the struggling. That is the essence of doing non doing. Like thought, action arises. Thought being its precursor. You can allow action to occur through you without disturbance and without anxiety. If you experience the doing instead of trying to be the doing, then the anxieties, the ego, the distraction, the resistance, will lessen in time. And even the doing can change and become more congruent.

How often do we find we act out of synch with our values?  I would say part of that is the idea that we have to make ourselves do things.  Some fear that acting from inner nature will turn them into a monster. Is your housecat a monster? Are your houseplants? Is the mouse because it forages for your food? In fact our nature is to live, and live fully. We don’t engage in wrong doing from that basis. Many esteemed philosophers can have their beliefs summed up easily. Do not seek wisdom to be happy. Be happy and you will be wise.

You won’t stop doing the dishes if you start doing what you want. You will want clean dishes. You won’t quit working. You want the pay check and might want the activity. Might miss it if you quit.  This is the essence of non doing. You will act anyway and closer to your full potential because you won’t be distracted by, Am I doing this well? Is this good enough? Do I need to be doing more or do I need to be doing something else? These wrack our body and make our neck and shoulders and lower back stiffen. It can even cripple us.

We all follow any growth process in our own natural way or our growth process gets stunted. You are a human and can’t grow as a tree grows. You will grow according to your nature or stunt your growth, but you are what you are. You don’t have to try to grow. Yoda wasn’t being cranky with Luke. Do not try. Do or do not do, there is no try. If you do not do something, do not judge yourself. You do not do it, because you do not choose to, or you do not yet have the ability. But with it in your nature, with the need or desire, you will do it and maybe in a way you never expected.

“Why” matters. “Why” matters more than “what”. There will be an endless stream of “what” in your life. What will bring it all together is “why”.

Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
