Love takes work
But despises effort
Love takes trust
But breaks you in those places
That your trust protected.
Love hints at solutions
Via a prism of problems
It puppeteers you
Into believing
You’ve found yourself
Until you find your self
Looking for your self
Again
And yet, again
Love comes back
And you ask,
Where did you go?
And it answers
Where did you go? I was here the whole time.
Because love is a facetious asshole like that.
A smug and confident force of nature
That’ll fool you into making a fool of your self.
Until you learn
That there’s nothing foolish
In being foolish
Unless you fool around, of course
You fool.
So, Love
Welcome, as always
My door is open to let you in
And shit on my carpet
to teach me another lesson
About my hangups
in conflict with your conflicting perfections
