What is the difference between resistance and principles? Principles manifest as essences, and they don’t block you. They empower you. To say I believe that love is the highest ideal. What does love as the highest ideal prevent you from? Really nothing. It engages you more in life. It’s like saying food is good for you. Another principle, and it enhances engagement.
If it’s struggle to uphold them, then you should perhaps review the root of the principles. I find those “painful” principles are deviations from a core truth. They aren’t wrong, but they aren’t necessarily right either.
What is painful principle? Some people hold themselves to what they consider “high” standards. They arbitrarily decide that an idea is somehow special and that this often unactualized and unreachable ideal needs to be a focus. I offer that perhaps these ideas are delusion. That they are more controls than actual principles and likely they didn’t originate from inside. Your head might say that idea makes sense, but as any student of logic will attest to, your head can find a way to make anything make sense. We don’t implement principles on our own power. It is often said, not my will but Gods will. True principles have power all their own.
You decide your limits and your way past them is your way. But all ways are one way. No matter how expressed there is this. That inner nature, that spirit, that you are, it is your way. We can hide that light under a bushel, but it is mistaken to do so. It is the only “sin”. It is the essence of missing the mark. It is ignorance of divine will, and it is the source of our pain.
Divine will is the final arbitration. We decide based on effectiveness. But as many have discovered, we don’t decide what works. We only decide what we will try. The dynamics of how the world works, the way the life energy works, isn’t decided by us. And as far as we understand will as a form of resistant thinking, well that doesn’t happen at all, because it doesn’t work. The universe is very efficient. The option of resistance is there, but as the Brahmins say, “All paths lead to Brahma.” Brahma = the all encompassing, the one life from which all existence stems. Ultimately we always learn more from our mistakes. So as misguided as it is, it does have it’s place on the path.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
