Resilience

Stress, darkness, delusion, call it what you will, this affects us all. We all suffer both psychologically and physically. Some people just can’t feel right again as quickly as other people do. The person who doesn’t bounce back as quickly as others isn’t foolish or possessed of any other character defect necessarily. They may not be able to help it as easily as other people.

The idea that “THOU SHALT NOT LOSE YOUR COOL!” actually makes lunatics of people. We are burdened not so much by events themselves as we are by our thoughts that tell us how we should or should not handle a situation. There is no one right way of seeing things to get to.

“You desire to know the art of living, my friend? It is contained in one phrase: make use of suffering.” Henri Frederic Amiel, philosopher and writer (1821-1881)

“The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.” Ernest Hemingway
