Category: World Belief

On my spiritual path I have studied many world beliefs. While I don’t claim to be an authority on them, I will share some of what I’ve learned in the ‘World Beliefs’ category. Perhaps they will inspire you to seek further.

Those who abandon their faith are not faithless. Perhaps quite to the contrary, their faith has given them the strength to abandon trappings. Religion from the Latin religio meaning practice. We will all have practices. I was very devout myself, and in my devotion I found I could no longer devote myself to that creed. My faith isn’t weak. It motivates my seeking. I don’t subscribe to any specific faith. I find truth in my personal experience which does loosely label me a Gnostic. Many Gnostic schools say the logos indwells our sun itself.

The Buddhas wisdom was put into the context of the greater way as was the only way it could be, but in fact the symbolism is at best intuitively true. The spheres exist within us. Wisdom is simple. It is the sign of true knowing. Not if they can spout arcane jargon, but can they take an arcane topic and make it abundantly clear to the uninitiated.

I will state that these beliefs discussed are not necessarily my beliefs.

“There is not enough religion in the world to destroy the world’s religious.” Friedrich Nietzsche

  • Universal Communication

    Universal Communication

There actually hasn’t been any such thing as truly independent evolution. We all arose and arise under some laws that all sentient beings have in common. So there is a basis for understanding among all species, even potentially empathy. Are you working under the assumption that evolution on different planets or environments follow the same…

  • Life Energy

    Life Energy

Tonight, or today as the case may be, we are talking about Shamanism. Not any one cultures Shamanism, but the essence of Shamanism that has run through many cultures. It has influenced cultural thought as well, but it is a way of thinking, and acting, and being, more than a credo. That’s perhaps the first…

  • World Of The Shaman

    World Of The Shaman

In the world of the Shaman, there is no real separation between the inner world, that we now call the mind, and the outer world, that includes nature. They understood all experience as part of one single world. If the life energy is doing it, it’s real. Everything is meaningful? Yes, but not necessarily of…

  • Shamans Gifts

    Shamans Gifts

Perhaps some examples. Shamans actually tend to specialize. It was considered that a Shamans gifts and personal spirit suited them better for some things than others, though they did explore the spirit world in general as a rule. Everyone familiar with Crazy Horse? Or from eastern society, Genghis Khan? Khan was very famous, and he…

  • Knowing The Spirits

    Knowing The Spirits

The Shaman comes to know the spirit personally, and they learn more than just how the spirits affect humanity. They learn how the spirits relate to each other, and just as when a fight breaks out in a tribe, a little bit of reason can lead to peace being restored. They saw troubling events in…

  • Shamanic Practice

    Shamanic Practice

Want a general example of how to do Shamanism? Well, you can just let your spirit wander, but they call that day dreaming these days. So let’s actually chose a focus, something we want to understand, or a problem we want to solve and issue we want to overcome. If you care to share, I…

  • Voodoo & Hoodoo

    Voodoo & Hoodoo

Some topics I do require some anchor in peoples personal experience. I have no intention of beating around the bush as they say. I just have to have the groundwork for the main ideas to make sense. So shall we begin today’s topic of voodoo? Voodoo… whodoo. Actually, the other spelling would be hoodoo, and…

  • Voodoo Roots

    Voodoo Roots

Does voodoo have Spanish roots? Santeria does. How old is voodoo? Vodun has prehistoric roots tracing back to the oldest oral traditions of the people of Benin and surrounding regions, but some form of Catholicism is incorporated into many of the forms voodoo traditions take. I know a tradition in Spain says that the youngest…

  • Harnessing Ashe

    Harnessing Ashe

Voodoo must have some pretty powerful magick, things that should not be attempted by just anyone. Voodoo dolls can be seriously harmful, right? The voodoo doll by itself is harmless. The voodoo priest/priestess or hoodoo man or woman needs powerful ashe to have those techniques work as they should. Ashe is spirit, and they build…

  • Master of the Head

    Master of the Head

In Voodoo, they call ones patron loa “master of the head”, and even if you aren’t called upon to be a priest or anything, they still often identify a master of the head for a person. Is “master of the head” similar to discursive thought? I imagine so, just without the abstract model of thought.…

  • Voodoo Thought

    Voodoo Thought

Perhaps some clarification of Voodoo thought as it relates to the Bible. Some of the Voodoo practices that are seen as so sinister have regular precedent in the Old Testament, even in the New Testament and in those books the later church judged as apocryphal. Like the idea of cursing there are references to it…

  • Wicca Roots

    Wicca Roots

Now I must apologize in advance. Tonight’s class will be my best effort at encompassing a subject that is not easily traced let alone analyzed. No offence meant with anything. Wicca is what would be called a syncretic religion similar to American Voodoo in some senses, but having more focus on western European culture and traditions. There…

  • Emergence of Wicca

    Emergence of Wicca

What organization there was behind the older faiths practiced by the Greeks and Romans was functionally lost as the priest of gods like Zeus and Poseidon were perfectly willing to convert to the new state religion of Christianity. Their offices having originally been largely political and they continued to remain so. No loss for them.…

  • Power of Wicca

    Power of Wicca

As for the power of Wicca, much of the power of a practice stems from the measure of spiritual energy behind the practice. The cultural and inherited weight of the symbols and practices involved, as well as the integrity of the practical lore that goes with it. So, as much as Wicca is a modern…

  • Wiccan Tradition

    Wiccan Tradition

As for the specifics of any particular Wiccan denomination, also called a tradition, I’m afraid it would be necessary to consult the sources directly but certain beliefs are held in common between them. What is commonly called the Wiccan rede, I will paraphrase. As it harms none, do what you will. Besides respect and reverence…

  • Egypt’s Tradition of Magic

    Egypt’s Tradition of Magic

Shall we discuss Heka? I have made reference to Maat in previous classes, but in fact ancient Egyptian civilization had no word for religion. Maat was more akin to the Chinese concept of Tao than an actual codified religion. Maat forms the backdrop for the practice of Heka. The opposite of Maat is called Isfet,…

  • Use of Heka

    Use of Heka

In Heka, you have both your personal path and the paths walked by the Neter or glorious ones, and were thought even to be able to achieve immortality and even equality with the gods, more or less. Could you give us a bit of an historical time-frame for this way of thinking? Are we talking…

  • Everything Whisperer

    Everything Whisperer

There is a current neuroscience specialist who feels we are moving toward a psycho-social homoeostasis. He feels all human cognitive function, specifically all brain function, evolved as a life regulation mechanism, and thus as we have evolved past the age of humans in small family groupings like other simians live in even today. By extension, we are…
