Subconscious Knows Everything

Your subconscious forms the patterns that prioritize one desire over another, and your subconscious prioritizes internal disturbance over external stimulation. Anything that registers as illness or toxin gets higher priority than say something like bright light or heat. The distress caused by stress hormones is not differentiated from the distress caused by pathogens so your subconscious mind goes into overdrive to control those before it even begins to process something like what you may have seen. It will even generate false visual impressions in order to handle what’s going on internally.

So that’s why stress can make you physically sick? It is yes, but it makes you more than physically sick.

It’s telling you you need to slow down. Indeed. It will actually bend your mind to conform with its patterns.

It is experiential rather than neurological? It has an experiential impact. The only reason neurological phenomenon seems so mysterious is we don’t have a commonly taught basis for translation.

So you will actually catch a cold? Indeed. It can even activate viral strains that you were only a carrier of, causing things like erosion of the frontal lobe.

I almost always get a cold about three days after I’ve had a traumatic emotional experience. Lower immune response? Yes. It can throw every aspect of the endocrine system out of whack, but how it bends your cognitive processes is simple.

So, all of this plays into need and want, doesn’t it? It does. Your conscious mind experiences desire in a sort of second hand fashion. It has really only one desire of its own, make sense of incoming sensations. That’s all it’s really capable of, and all of its feedback comes from the subconscious mind so it “makes up” explanations for the feelings you are experiencing.

But are we not still responsible (socially) for what we’re not conscious of? Ah indeed we are, and we can change our relationship to our thoughts, feelings, and subconscious mind in general. Your common day to day thought is just a mirror for your subconscious processes. Like a mirror site to another core website of the internet, it exists to take burden off the main computer which is your subconscious mind, and this is the key idea here. It’s taking burden off the subconscious mind. If you leave your mind on autopilot, you become a creature of habit, reactionary, knee jerk socially, even neurotically erratic in your moral judgements.

But some of these “reactive patterns” can be discovered through meditation, no? They are easily discovered through meditation, or through your own behaviour which they call karma yoga. The subconscious mind doesn’t do computation. Its sole purpose is to preserve your survival instincts and growth drive. Psychologists have another word for the growth drive. Jungians have referred to it as the death wish. Your subconscious mind knows that survival alone is best served by leaving well enough alone, but it also knows that this leads to atrophy, progressive weakness, so it accepts challenge and “risks death” to prevent this atrophy.

Atrophy, is that the feeling of being let down after a big event say? Actually no, the feeling of being let down happens before the state of atrophy. Atrophy is also called apathy, being numb or no longer engaged with or interested in life.

I cannot help but ponder the phrase: “Your subconscious mind “knows that….” Because usually, I feel that only my conscious mind can “know” anything. Your conscious mind actually knows nothing. It hasn’t got a single memory. You cannot even recollect a memory without a subconscious trigger event. It has to cascade a search signal all through your conscious mind in order to recover those little bits of data that you perceive as a remembered event. This is why memory can be distorted, often heavily distorted, as well as why it can be incomplete or lacking in detail.

There must be ways you can jog memory then. There indeed are.

Like touching old objects and seeing if they stir anything. Sensory stimuli, recreating part of the remembered situation, like going back into a room related to the memory.

Or smelling them. Smell is powerful for me. Yes smell is huge, but even a vaguely related visual impression can do it also.

So yes, the subconscious knows everything you know. It has the root code for it all. This is why memories surface so easily in dreams. This is also why dreams are so often a form of wish fulfillment, but it has no ability to compute, to do cross comparisons or examine broad patterns.

The smell of baking bread brings back a host of memories. Even dreams, especially dreams, bring back memories. Indeed, because it’s the subconscious mind that hits all those triggers, has all the keys to recover any memory.

Here is where things get messed up though. Genetic memory? Likely runs parallel to acquired savant syndrome as well, but when you consciously take your subconscious impressions at face value, then your conscious thought only serves to reinforce your subconscious habits and sense of “disease.”

I ponder “genetic memory” and morphic fields. Something has to shape the general trends in broad mutation of the gene pool.

Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
