Did alchemists really try to change matter to something else like gold? They experimented with matter to confirm or refute their theories. What were their theories? A cycle of creation, or arising. The elements didn’t all just pop up, they stemmed from each other much like the cycle we can observe in water. Matter was actually not first, and in science solids aren’t the first or primary state. They observed cycles of destruction. How matter (if it’s behaving like that) seems to self interrupt. More or less “go nuke” though not that dramatic.  They observed this cycle in states of mind and health also, so the alchemists were right about that if not detailed.

They were all encompassing. The mechanics of everything. Like chemistry and science but not confined to the physical. I have been pouring over grimoirs, alchemical treatises, old codexes, and symbolic keys since I was twelve years of age. It is what gave me any control or insight. The phenomenon were dominating my life before then.

How did they help me as symbolic keys? I found the symbolism to parallel each other. The western to be repeating the Chinese. The Aztec to have its own parallels. Many symbols, but the same language. The Norse runes is another example. The departure from the older pictograms denatured our thought. This made it nice and linear, and much more binary. I found the old scripts very coherent and more intuitive. Liberating.

Oghams are good (alphabet of Celtic memory, communication and divination). They are very simple in form, but it still works. I was enculturated of course and really only practice American English, so I can’t claim to master what I discovered but learned enough to suit my needs and deepened my knowledge as I can. Many symbols still used today by astronomers were used by alchemists because they tracked the affect of the seasons in the same alchemical pattern. They saw a correlation in planetary behaviour to terrestrial, like comets which do correlate to sun spot behaviour. This has been proven to affect our ionosphere, which does affect biological behaviour. This is in part why biologists are so hot on bioluminescence right now.
