Shall we choose a specific focus and give the wuxing take on it? Suggestions?
Art? Perhaps states of mind, which relates to art and problem solving as well.
You cannot think in only one category. You will naturally think in all five (earth, fire, water, wood, metal) but perhaps you may be conscious of only one at any given time. If you try to keep only one state, your thinking will be incomplete, undeveloped and subject to collapse. You might not even become fully aware of the thought. So if you consciously assume each of the five states, your thinking will always be balanced and strong. Your problem solving method sound.
So applied to art, art that has no fire speaks to no passion and will lack staying power. Art that has no earth, no recognisability for people to relate to, will likewise dissipate. As you go through the wuxing cycle of creation, you can come full circle and produce a work of art that will be a force of nature by itself. Take on a life beyond the artist, because the chi going into it is balanced the same way it is in people, so the artwork becomes a spirit.
In conflict strategy, fire exhausts fire but leaves the potential for future fire. Water destroys fire and removes the original conditions that allowed for it. So remaining calm like a placid lake is the sound stance in dealing with a fiery opponent. Fire knows how to react to fire and gets lost with water.
Investment strategy? Investment strategy wants to create wood. That’s the final stage in the creative cycle so if they go straight to earth, land and location and properties, and refuse any liquidity, reject any water, they starve their business before it starts. What this means for investment strategy is the popular model of buy low and sell high is unsound. You instead buy when the stock is stable and sell when it’s low. You reinvest when the stock is being split.
Why would you sell low? You sell low because multiple dips mean depleting chi. It’s bleeding energy and won’t be able to endure, and when one stock is being divided, you invest in both because clarity of awareness is high. The quality of metal. Microsoft didn’t crash when the corporation had to divide, it prospered.
It makes sense to do that looking at the small cycles inside the larger ones. Obviously, you’re hoping it’s still at a level higher then when you bought it, and it would indicate a time to get out. Some people just invest using trend analysis looking at stock prices and this would match up.
It relates to story structure as well. A story with no water will allow the reader no opportunity to invest emotionally. A story with scorched earth, a chaotic setting, will lack substance to the reader. A story with no wood, no branching out or progression, would fail to satisfy the reader like giving someone the blow by blow of your bowel movement.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
