The magick of this holiday is primarily based on the season, specifically the winter solstice. The winter solstice is more or less the bottom of the year. The longest night and the clearing of old influences.

The Gregorian calendar, in general, is pretty confusing when it comes to understanding seasonal mysticism. Many of the figures associated with this time of year are best understood in the context of their symbolic role in the process of the year. Even the image of the dying and returning King. The promise of further life / redemption past the season of darkness.

If I may ask, what does this season mean to you personally, friends?

• I have also seen extensive writing about the severity of climate, social, geographical, spiritual. It was one big bad year .

Next year will be even more interesting, and the year after that more so. We are living in interesting times.

How do you view the significance of the lunar eclipse at this time of year? The dark of the moon overlaid with the dark of the year is a powerful clearing. From here forward, much that has persisted over the past 4+ centuries will cease to be the rule. It is one step toward the “end of the world”, but only as we knew it. And some things will endure, because they always have.

But more to the season itself, there are certain repeating patterns each season that seem to surface no matter ones attitude or intentions though individual attitudes may differ greatly. Even if you insist on believing in coincidence, then some event patterns are persistent enough that they have taken on a life or spirit of their own. Thus we have various seasonal figures, and some religions project their figure to replace others that respected nature more. They insist everything is a nail perhaps, and try to hammer home the dominance of their God. Science has even now acknowledged that there are real differences in temperament and general physical tendencies between people born at different times of year, born in different seasons.
