To summarize, in conjuration you try to use your knowledge of the spirits to affect their behaviour outside of you. Like a chemist looking for a specific reaction. In invocation, you open yourself to them with the intention of working with them rather than swaying how they work.
I can summarize the purpose of invocation simply. To be inspired. To bring in insights and power you aren’t normally entitled to. It’s important to remember that you are being helped, and it’s not about you being special. “Grandma” does not love you best.
Muse? The muses would be an invocation.
It’s important to remember that you are being helped. It is also important to be aware that you are helping, too. That you are a vital participant. Oh, yes. You don’t have to be “religious”. The spirits are not your masters. You help too. You matter as well. This is why you are here at all. Why it was possible for you to be born. Why all the chaos allowed specifically the person that you are to arrive rather than someone else. You matter. The universe can’t do “random”. You can’t do anything random. There is no such thing. Everything is in order and you just move from one force or principle to another.
It can do the unexpected? There are parts of reality that are hard for the human intellect to grasp. Use your brain. It’s good for you, but don’t be fooled. Try to use your brain for everything, and it will be like trying to cook a delicious meal with your feet. It’s maybe possible in the literal sense, but it is not advisable.
I like the “unexpected” postulate. To that I would say “depends.” Unexpected to what level of consciousness? Gods? Yours? Something in between? The only usefulness I see in what I call “relativism” is the knowledge that whatever you think you know, or are doing, is only a working model. It’s not your actual limit. Beyond that you can get horribly stuck in the “relative”. Just like getting stuck at your grouchy Aunties house.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
