Love the Way You Are

Perhaps a different point of view to show even more clearly the truth of this, and how deeply the rabbit hole goes.

Let’s look at art. It’s possible that all art, even modern art, stems from or at least still has roots in the primal battle trance, that primal collective consciousness when we aren’t all just grazing about aimlessly. Music expresses either our distress or our passionate search for happiness. Is there any such thing as found happiness music? Any such thing as an “I’m perfectly happy” song?

Elevator muzak? Even that, no. Elevator music tends to be anxiety producing.

I thought I’d heard things that strike a very happy note in my heart, mostly classical or electronic. Beethoven was one angry, frustrated soul.

So I was asking is there any such thing as a perfectly happy song?

Shiny Happy People? Actually no, that song reflects a sense of the meaninglessness of life. It is a long rationale for why we should just embrace ennui. Better to cope and all drive out to the love shack in an old Cadillac than try to fix anything.

I don’t think there is a “perfect” anything, especially when it comes to happiness.

Love it the way it IS. You can only ultimately love things the way you are, but you can only do that when you love the way you are.

Love as much as you can from wherever you are. There isn’t even a range of places you are. I promise you are in your desire and your fear. Two sides of the exact same coin.

Are you equating “loving yourself” with “accepting yourself”? Yes, accepting yourself fully, and I don’t mean tolerating yourself. I mean accepting yourself like the house you live in, or the land you live on. You don’t even think about whether you should accept those things. Home is just home.

One of the most profound lines I have ever heard was from a cheezy King Arthur movie. The man who fears nothing loves nothing. What do you think of that?

“This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.”
–Rumi

Perfect quote, very true.

Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
