Sync to the emotion and then shift yours in order to shift what or who you’re syncing with? Yes, and you will find many authorities, so to speak, on psychic healing, even the credible ones who will describe it more or less in the same way. Though they confine it to healing, it’s not that limited. The empath’s gift can and has been used to achieve altered states, heightened degrees of awareness. The basis of shamanism is empathic.
I suppose science has only touched on this in a primitive way, describing it with how body language effects another. Yes. They have made more connections recently. You can and do uptake biochemical signals from others. You can absorb cortisol, say, from skin contact made with another, and can smell a wide array of things, quite large actually, they just usually don’t consciously register. The greatest masters of internal martial arts tend to be empaths. Ki focusing is an empathic discipline. It is the source of the vaunted wisdom of ancient martial arts masters. It is what inspired the various schools of kung fu. They didn’t adapt animal tactics and movements from scientific analysis. The oldest documents contain mostly drawings and very brief word descriptions. Empaths oddly enough tend not to be verbal people.
Martial arts has a physical vocabulary all its own.
So why aren’t there more active empaths? Why isn’t it a consciously developed talent?
People don’t believe it is useful?
It’s considered ‘weak.’
And they’re right on both counts. What they miss is that so are their conscious skills. In my experience, the mind as a resource is very poorly understood and underdeveloped. We take intense condition and panicked twitching for signs of excellence and strength of mind.
To harness empathy, or any other of the cognitive or sub-cognitive talents, takes a degree of engagement that people are either unwilling or unable to martial. This actually mystifies me, or am I mistaken in my assumption?
Perhaps because of lack of guidance. People assume that what goes on in their mind is something that just happens to them, or that using learned skills is something they just do, but even science doesn’t support this assumption. The various networks in your brain can indeed be re-purposed, activated and deactivated at will. In their experimentation with direct neural interface technology, or even just brain computer interface technology, once the individual becomes aware of the connection they have with the system they can activate and deactivate it at will. Though sometimes this takes a little time and training, sometimes it’s actually quite quick. Your internal systems are no different than using a brain computer interface (BCI).
You are not conscious of some of the systems not because they are inaccessible, but because they are differently structured, differently coded. There is still a conscious access point in all of those systems even if it’s accessed accidentally as displayed in the placebo or nocebo effect. We don’t have to stumble like that.
That actually explains the placebo effect very well.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
