To renovate, to renew, to revive we must clear away blockages. What is it that makes something a blockage?
Resistance? Can you renovate without removing anything?
Maybe by enclosing all the old stuff in a new package, but that’s not really renovating.
Abandoned perception.
First perhaps a clarification of will. That thing that I mention being free. You only have free will if you have space for it. Freedom is space to move. There are even schools of thought in physics that state that everything is movement, so anything that blocks movement is static, dead, but back to the point… Do you know what your will is? I promise you exercise it all the time.
Decision making? No, not decision making. Decision making often leads to the issues that block free will.
Ideation. Imagination. Ideation and imagination are the same thing.
Science has recently confirmed something fascinating. Your sensory perception subordinates itself to your imagination. You see what you imagine you will see. You don’t even see the entire picture of a room or object. Your brain fills in the blanks, makes assumptions. This process is the fundamental will. Every notion of intention, every sensation of volition stems from this process. Every pattern in your perception, everything you persistently see, is a behaviour pattern of your brain, and your emotions arise from the relationship between these behaviours. We feel happy, breezy, free to move and breath and live when no single thing has too much power to hold our attention.
So, no fetishes or fixations… Not if you seek healthy freedom of mind. We add new patterns to our mental environment from time to time. This is an outgrowth of the fundamental will I spoke of. When something seems blank in our minds, we are powerfully motivated to fill in the blanks, and can you guess what life’s biggest blank space is?
Adding new patterns = learning or “programming”? Indeed, and we crave it even if we train ourselves to reject and deny that craving.
The biggest blank space we try to fill in, the biggest hole in our perceptual wall, is the question, “Is this all there is?” Any of you ask yourselves that?
Craving more than “whatever is”… The reason we get to asking ourselves that question is we are conditioned into a state of passive acceptance, passive perception.
I’ve asked it, yes, but I also realize this is a symptom of not paying attention. No. It’s a symptom of you paying too much attention. Everyone pays too much attention, and you as individuals aren’t running the show.
Accepting our perceptions as literal? Yes.
We stop looking around? Yes.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
