Behind the outward forms of society are the principles that originally gave rise to those organizations and these forces have been explored through what have been called the “mysteries.”

We don’t actually struggle with the world. Especially in this age, we struggle with our experience of the world as we believe it to be. It takes very little to paint just a slightly better picture of the world than we form reactively on our own. Add a bit more and you get to include a system that includes you as the one in charge, and people swallow it hook, line and sinker as they say. You cannot truly create a secret society, but the same powers or principles that empower them are equally available to us.

“There is nothing so despicable as a secret society that is based upon religious prejudice and that will attempt to defeat a man because of his religious beliefs. Such a society is like a cockroach — it thrives in the dark. So do those who combine for such an end.” William Howard Taft (American 27th US President (1909-13). 1857-1930)

    Societies Power

Today we will not be talking about society in general, but more specifically secret society. Not specific secret societies, but the process that gives rise to secret societies. Society itself is a bit mysterious even in the normal sense. It’s the infrastructure by which all human power and potential is harnessed nominally to serve the…

    Mystery Societies

Behind the outward forms of society are the principles that originally gave rise to those organizations that brought people together to live in villages and then cities, and later metropolitan complexes, and these forces have been explored through what have been called the “mysteries” for a long time. The ritual dramas enacted by societies like…

    Ideas Aren’t Enough

The first cities did not arise from the influence of financial powers. If it were just as simple as securing material resources, society would never have moved past the tribal era. The first cities were established not by chieftains and material wealth but by priests, and we still insist on our priests serving as intermediaries…

    Use the Vision

We create mini-dramas accidentally in the virtual world of Second Life, reflexively, instinctively. This is why people so often report that Second Life has changed their real life radically. Sociologists are even studying virtual worlds now for this reason. Second Life has given me a powerful voice that I now use in first life. We have…

  • Ritual Awakening

    Ritual Awakening

In the mysteries, the officiating member or psychopomp often “costumes” themselves as an archetypal figure. They dress their presence in the form of the spirit that brings their society together even though it isn’t their singular, individual identity as a person. This is why you hear of “black masses” always being attended by a mysterious…

  • Role of Guide

    Role of Guide

I think we can be guides to each other. We don’t need to be supreme beings to learn and teach. Yes, indeed. The role of guide used to exist. We rejected it with the rise of the age of reason/science/progress. Like the obesity epidemic? We are bombarded with health information yet still have obesity. We…
