On the subject of taboos, and if this offends I apologize, it is the nature of our Dark Metaphysics class. We have other events less controversial. We have that sense of things we must not do, but we also refuse to think about these things we must not do. If we do that, then how can we avoid them or even help others avoid them in any effective way? Can you name some things you feel in your heart of hearts you must not do?
Tell people to be quiet. Have you avoided silencing people? No, and I probably do it more rudely by interrupting them.
Steal, though people do it all the time. Have you avoided taking what wasn’t earned by you?
Cheat, like on a test or something. Have you avoided breaking rules? Not always, no, but I judge the circumstance sometimes called for a rule break. How do you make that judgement? Is it your moral training? Who it effects and how. Which issue needs addressing more.
By giving back. Giving back is a good principle.
Nature mirrors things on a daily basis. We even have a fully developed nervous system that exists just to mirror things. In every situation we have an agreement and a taboo. A thing we promise to do even if not consciously, and a thing we swear to ourselves we will not do. We often feel torn between these seemingly extreme rules we have for ourselves, do we not?
Expectations and letting go. A battle. For every agreement you honour, you will break a taboo. You rob Peter to pay Paul. Is there any situation where this is not so?
This being stuck in the middle is actually not the problem, and any effort to get out from between this rock and hard place will fail. The reason you constantly run into trouble while trying to stay out of trouble is that life is a flow. All energy comes from some place and will inevitably go somewhere else, yet things seem to go horribly wrong do they not? We often get the sense that something is just really wrong at the root of many of our situations, and this is what we fear most. That we can never feel right in the face of this foundation of sand our life seems built on. The winds blow and the sand shifts, and the ocean washes the ground away from under our feet.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
