Today we are talking about celebration. We are talking about celebration in a general spiritual sense.
I will start by asking, what is celebration? Is it partying? The original and core meaning of that term is to form groups, and modern day partying just as often destroys groups as forms them, hence politics. So what is it to celebrate?
To appreciate. It can be done quietly as well. Recognize it’s presence. Yes, but what does it mean to appreciate something?
To appreciate is to draw out or accentuate, to focus on. We have another word that means to draw out. Do you know what it is? Educate. There are many things in this world that are attention getting. Are they all equally worthy of our attention? Must I be aware of the exact feel of my socks?
There is much that people do not appreciate or celebrate, but what is on our minds more often than not? What you celebrate you draw out. If you celebrate a person, you draw them out of their shell. If you celebrate an event, you draw it into public awareness. What we celebrate we call into life. What do you celebrate?
At this moment, I celebrate red and green. And there they are for us to see. They are very pretty.
The red and the green are Christian colors of celebration of birth of a child, but they are also colors about balance. They are also the colors of Pele and Kamapua’a . They too representing balance, or at the very least the struggle for it. They are, yes. They were of European pagan origin also. They were the colors of a spirit they knew as the Holly King. He was the winter aspect of the masculine divinity.
Even to this day, religious celebrations serve to heighten awareness either of the principles of your faith or of the spirit of the season. But they serve to draw people closer to that which they desire to be at one with.
They try to. They do try to. In this day and age often without much success.
We celebrate beginnings and endings. They are actually only one thing, but we perceive them as two. Where would we be if we did not celebrate these things? How would our life be?
There’d be no milestone markers to remember. What other reference points do we have? Would we be capable of any form of informed choice?
Measuring this or that event. Its growth or lack thereof. In my experience, there really isn’t such a thing as lack of growth. There is just growth we find undesirable. To date, no one can stop any of the worlds cycles. This is likely very fortunate.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
