Understand Actions

In Karma yoga, you don’t swear off all action, and in fact, there is a reason normally undertaken action has the burdensome effect it does.

When you take an action you see yourself as personally involved, no? Anything you feel personally involved in you overlay personal meaning onto. This is the only way you can feel personally involved. You tell yourself the action means something to you, or means something about you.

So this relates to the procrastination class as well? Indeed, and that is how you get stuck in the karmic cycle. As long as there is a ‘you’ in the event, then you will keep returning to that event.

I’m always disturbed by people who dismiss their responsibility in an outcome by saying that wasn’t their intention. And disowning an intention is self-delusion.

I often find that things take much longer to accomplish than I anticipated, so that makes me wary of starting things.

When you are invested in the actions, all your actions become distorted by your own personality, your personal expectations. So, what you insist in a perfectly innocent act on your part can stray very far from innocence. Because you take the action with the intention to prove you are innocent, the outcome is always corrupted.

Now Karma yoga, as with all forms of yoga, involves an element of devotion with reflection and guidance in traditional understanding, or even just personal seeking if you prefer.

Only try to help those that ask for your help then? Actually, this will clarify the issue of who to help.

Or how to help? Yes.

When you see action in the world as a product of the world, as the world acting through its individual elements, then you can understand actions, yours and those of other people, as a part of the bigger reality or spiritual realm. When your friend’s troubles are not seen as “their problem” or even your problem, then they are just an event, one you may be involved in, and you can act as the situation demands without expectation of a personally preferred outcome. You act in the way most appropriate in that situation and that moment.

Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
