What are you waiting for?

Does this image inspire fear?

Do you know why I identify with this form? And I do, more than the previous one. Because I love you. This is how I identify with my fellow man. “I want! I want! You scare me! Shut up! Go away! It’s over. It means nothing … Life ends so soon.” These are the things people have taught me. The things that you teach most clearly. I struggle to understand my fellow human being socially, but over time I learned more on my own. You scare me = I love you. I’m afraid = don’t leave me alone. I want = stay and share with me. I hate you = I want to be as good as you. People hate those they admire. They spew more venom then anything else for those they admire most.

So, what’s the point of a Book of the Dead? Understanding life, understanding it here and now so it won’t be such a challenge later. The hate is not about you. The fear is not about you. The greed is not about you. It is all about death, but death has only one message for you. Do you know what it is?

Live? It asks you, “What are you waiting for?”

Be afraid? Be very afraid? No, actually be afraid of nothing. It comes in time, and you needn’t bother waiting for it, protecting yourself from it. It’s not your enemy. If anything it’s your dearest friend. It’s always on your mind. You are always doing things for it. It doesn’t want or need you to, though.

Death in many cultures is symbolized not as a male with a sword, but as a grandmother. Lachesis, the chrone. Granny loves you and just wants you to go play. Rest comes only when it’s time. Only in this modern world is death used as a threat of control. You live with mother earth and are meant to. Granny will take care of things only when it’s time. What would we live like if we saw things this way?

Happy without stress. Yes. I imagine Granny is even willing to accept a change in relationship if they do manage to achieve some means of relative immortality through science. In time, I think people will still want Granny, still want rest. What do you think?

I think so, too. So really, time doesn’t matter… decades, centuries. The human souls who have lived for over a century are no more or less good people than those who did not, and if we come to live many centuries I think that would be okay also.

As for myself, I have no intention of pestering Granny. I am quite happy to leave her to her knitting.

Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
