Tonight’s Design of Intention subject will either help bring clarity, or muddle things much worse. Some things are like that I guess.
First I will ask, what is design?
Placing elements together in a pleasing arrangement.
How about “structured intention”? A wild surmise.
Excellent, both are of course correct. Does something other than you control your attention? Or perhaps more clear, what is cause?
An outside action you mean? Any cause, cause in essence.
Something that precedes something else.
Stimulus.
How does anything get started?
Cause and effect. Interesting, what is effect?
The results.
Motivation?
And another cause?
Result of cause.
How does that differ from design?
Effect? Yes, artists strive to achieve an effect, even movie makers use special effects.
It wasn’t intended? Ah, that is likely true but in that case why wasn’t it intended?
No particular desire? Unfocused.
I wasn’t looking. Exactly, the audience isn’t watching. All the world is a stage and the people merely players, so why isn’t the audience watching?
They’ve decided not to?
Myopic vision.
Oh, ultimately yes. This lack of audience attention also has a cause, does it not? What would it be?
Distraction?
External dialog.
Do they realize they are an audience? Often no, they don’t realize they are an audience. They see the creative effort as being what it seems to be. They have lost track of the difference between reality and fantasy. All the world is art. It is all cinema, but who does the camera work?
I do for me. Yes, how has that been going?
Looking at the wrong things. Ah, so loose the thread of the story?
Or see just a piece of it. Actually, that piecemeal idea is why things get messed up
So the audience is part of the “art.” They are the art because they are the life.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
