Now what does all this cosmic thinking on past and future lives have to do with life here now? I can ask another question. Have you found your voice yet? It’s something we all have to do if we want to move beyond the garage practice stage of our spiritual existence.
In many schools of magick and mysticism, they describe this act of finding your voice. They call it finding your true will, or understanding your dharma, or conversation with the holy guardian angel. It’s really been described in a lot of ways, understanding your avocation or true calling. It’s the same thing, but generally thought of in a backwards way.
The spiritual voice is found and then you have the realization you seek. You find the light first, then you walk the path, but this is where things get tricky. It seems paradoxical doesn’t it? Find your answer before you start asking questions? It’s still true for as strange as it sounds.
Hindu mysticism has some good stories that explain how this is even possible. They describe it this way. Your atman or higher soul, in order to understand itself more fully, hides parts of itself all throughout the physical world. It has to do this in order to assume the role of a human being to begin with. As you go through your life, you can become involved in seeking the other god, the other soul, an outside authority that you believe can convince you that you are real. This sound at all familiar?
So I am my atman’s big toe? Yes, you are. I wish he would clip me once in a while. He does clip you. You don’t like it. As long as you look for the outer god, you remain like the famous narcissus. You pine away for your own reflection and wind up losing the chance you were originally seeking to understand.
So when I get sick, that’s him clipping me? More or less, yes. The spirit you seek forms the body of life you call your life. The reason you don’t recognize yourself in your life circumstances is the atman disguised it all. You are like Osiris scattered all throughout the underworld. You can’t perhaps yet discern your nose from a hole in the ground.
So seeking nirvana is counter-productive to why we are here in the first place? I have always suspected that. Why dive into the water if you want to stay dry? Exactly.
I suspect those who do seek nirvana are doing a service to the meta-song for all of us? This is true.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
