People doubt the overblown concepts, sensationalized belief systems, and I don’t think that’s bad. Spirituality should be just as subject to testing and evaluation as science and technology are. If there isn’t any readily available wisdom that you can apply then why believe it?
How do you test spirituality? Do the doctrines or insights of the spirituality prove true in your life? Do any of those truths empower you to better your life? If so there is worth in it.
How do you test other peoples spirituality? Are they able to use what they know to improve life? Do they say I believe only to have it restrict them and leave them to suffer? But only they can say or know. There is a good guideline for the truth of anything, it sets you free.
Who can judge? They judge themselves, and likely share their self judgement with you. So there cannot be a universal judgment or measurement. Not in the absolute sense humans favour, because a lot of human prejudice has no basis in fact. Life works, and will work despite our resistance.
I disparage no path that doesn’t attack other paths themselves. Attacking is the tendency of some organized faiths to demonize paths that aren’t their own, and that don’t meet with their approval. It’s sad, but they find justification in having enemies which implies the root doctrine lacks substance. Any doctrine that requires anything external to be valid lacks heart.
Which doctrine lacks heart? That I don’t judge. There are two stances to any path, and the people can seem radically different though they purport to embrace the same doctrine. What we hope to do here is discuss insights and paths for what they are in essence.
There is an esoteric stance that seeks the spirit of a doctrine, and an exoteric stance that insists on adherence to form, and is usually rather divisive. Clarity can lead to seeing the borders aren’t there. If you see someone not of your ethnic group and note their differences, you create borders without a word being said. You aren’t enslaved by boundaries by seeing them. Refuse to see anything and you are restricted by tgar
When the finger points to the moon you don’t need to look any further at the finger, but the finger did point at the moon. Not all will see the same thing from the same angle, if we were to unite perspectives then we have the whole picture. Boundaries will be drawn, but it is our choice as to if the boundaries are there for us or not.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
