Judgement, what it is and what it does. Judgement is an inherently restrictive force in the mind, but it lays no restrictions on others not without some overt force. Our judgements restrict us. We do not perceive our world directly. We do not see things as they are. We see them as we judge them to be, people too. If you judge another harshly you do not directly impact them. They may not even care for your judgement one way or another, but you do leave a mark on your mind and your life. How you judge the world likewise you also judge yourself.
By our judgements we shape our world, and your beliefs will be arrived at regardless of any faith you profess or any practice you engage in. This is why many fall away from a faith or practice. They either embraced another’s view without reflecting on their own being and needs, thus bought a false bill of goods, or they judge their own capacities negatively, and feel they cannot pursue a path they otherwise esteem. In all likelihood, the truth is neither.
Do opinions matter? Yes, as a matter of fact they matter a great deal. Much though not all of your quality of life is actually your opinion. Am I saying this isn’t real? No it’s real. The greater part of any event in your life is not the event itself, but what you bring to it. If you judge yourself unworthy, then as opportunities arise you will miss them even if they parade full force in front of your awareness. You won’t believe you can have that or do that, and thus your life will match your judgements. Your emotions, good or bad, arise not from who you know or where you are or what you have, but from your judgements of these things.
But in a very real way, what can come of any moment is decided by your judgement. Your energy and enthusiasm, or your fatigue or despair, will have a very real impact on what you will get out of literally anything that happens to you. Can they defy reality? Perhaps not, but that’s a difficult question to answer anyway. If life events will happen anyway, why not choose freedom? To be empowered.
From some points of view the life of a quadriplegic would be a hopeless misery. Steven Hawking doesn’t seem to have any real problem with it does he? It seems his life is meaningful enough for him. That’s one example. Honestly, he could have bought into others judgements of him. At first, they didn’t even know if he could communicate when he was young. Not only has he communicated, but has communicated some of the mostly highly esteemed insights in recent times. He is a highly respected scientist. A path that is largely communication based.
What if life events have taken away your choices, and you’re not a talented Stephen Hawking? You are what you are. What you think you aren’t will never make an impact on your life, unless you think you have to be what you aren’t. Then that notion can make you think you shouldn’t be at all. But I assure you, your judgement is not better than the force that brings us all into existence, nor is mine, nor is any other human beings no matter how smart. For every weakness you feel you have. You have also developed a strength. Our souls don’t grow in parts.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
