Getting over Tragedy

If you're new here, seek and you will find...and subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Do people get over tragedies or do they just move on? The idea you forgive and forget is a lie, and an injurious one. You can forgive and let go, but the delusion that you can forget makes people feel bad about themselves.

Faith can be a strength, but understanding is still necessary, and organized faith as it stands is not so organized. People work so hard for the Church, for God, thinking he can just heal as a prize. It would be justice, wouldn’t it? People have faith, but then run up against ‘why‘. This is human. People get upset about religion and everyone who believes in it. They have a strong belief that they’re not worth enough to be loved. But have they fully explored that belief? It’s impact on them and others? You may feel a lot of anger, and you won’t permit yourself to have it?  [...] Continue to Seek…

Attention and Intention

When you share an experience in any way, there is a need to reproduce the picture or data as presented by another. How is that possible without principles governing thought? How is it we experience anything to share with another, the observer, the part that not only says I am, but also I see? The object and the subject cannot be separated.

We cannot share experience, but we do share the idea of it. Two people can sit and eat a meal, and arrive at the same conclusions regarding the meal. The consensus reality is transmitted and quite effectively. They have even discovered relatively recently, that a system of nerves in the human body which they thought had little function actually serves that exact purpose.  To reproduce patterns in others, and to plug us into that experience we saw and we’re in contact with. The mirror nervous system. The mirror [...] Continue to Seek…

Brain, Mind and Experience

Can we say that ‘mind’ is just another word for ‘brain‘? I would debate that myself. I would say mind would be more akin to the morphogenetic field, and the body including the brain more of a mechanism and memory storage device. This is perhaps why the mind-body connection seems so mysterious. If you must anchor it to organic function then it is perhaps a hyper function, because most try to see it in the organic function as a product of the quantum mechanism that lets humans exist anyway.

How can I subscribe to a Cartesian view of the world, to the mind-body problem, to the belief that non-physical substances exist? How am I to experience these substances and know they exist? I haven’t supported the notion of non physical. I see the world as one world, and data seems to be preserved by the very force it’s encoded on. Thus [...] Continue to Seek…

Place of Humanity

The topic is an issue that comes up a lot, but is rarely given any formal answer for. Roughly, I will address the place of humanity in the universe.

It can be argued that in order for man to arise (male and female), the universe itself had to satisfy rather unusual parameters. With all the factors that play into the presence of life or its absence, for some the idea that sentient life arose at all by whatever means is an outrageous freak occurrence. I would argue that there is no logical reason to believe this. It could be said that the same forces play into there being any solid matter, play into there being living matter, and play into there being sentient life. Even guiding how that sentient life expresses itself.

There has been a lot of debate over the validity of human experience. Whether it is testable, or even [...] Continue to Seek…

Personality

There are three personality types over the two genders:

phalic
hysteric
schizoid

None are mental health issues and it could be said that:

phalic = rage
hysteric = feeling
schizoid = cerebral

Do you feel non identification with gender impulses? You may be genuinely and naturally schizoid. It doesn’t mean the other factors don’t matter. They do, and it is more like handedness.

But don’t these things usually come in fours? Yes. The unio mentalis, inner marriage, can be two way which would be the fourth. Or complete, which would be a fifth. Complete is all of them. Two way is schizoid and either phalic or hysteric. Cerebral and rage, or cerebral and feeling

And rational isn’t cerebral. Rational behaviour is rage driven. A schizoid is more mind than body.

The feeling aspect actually goes two ways. Either a rampant hedonist, or an ardent abstainer.

Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.

Elemental Nature

Having an elemental nature is just being alive. All people have an elemental nature, in that they break down into elements and merge uniquely. Life is a dance and everything dynamic.

One may be an oceanic soul, another more earthy. Earth is very staid in your ways, resist pressure, firm in opinions. They like structure and being focused on topic. What’s the bad thing about earthy? Doesn’t hold up well under change, paranoid, prone to destructive shifts, and quakes under the right circumstances.

I’m fire  Water is receptive, fire is expressive. Both are fluid, changeable. I’m impassioned, flare my temper and things get chaotic. Water and earth are the more relaxed elements. Fire and air the most driven. Know your elemental nature and like any totem you can use it to your advantage.

When earth meets earth, it is rock and roll. When fire gets fiery, earth gets fire proof. Earth is fireproof, [...] Continue to Seek…

Virtue and Vice

Yes, I have changed. I have reached a personal crisis, and it is here that I have had every idea or belief reduced to a bottom line. My instinct is fear.  Now I have transcended that fear and thus transcended my old self, but I didn’t get it from being a good boy and believing what I was told. I did try, and it drove me repeatedly to my true nature.

We learn empathy not from empathy, but from our own pain. We learn truth not from being trusted, but from our own doubts. Every strength you have arose from one of your weaknesses. If you were never challenged you would never have learned or grown. They say life isn’t easy, or it isn’t fair. This isn’t necessarily a flaw in the world. Any strength out of balance becomes a vice. Anger in balance is a passion for justice. Out [...] Continue to Seek…

Religion as Addiction

Is religion a new addiction of self image? Often times it is from my observation. This is why modern organized religion is so troubled. In one case I was taking my son to a daycare, very religious people and thought they could be trusted. They were in the atonement cycle. Turns out the male of the household was watching pornography right in front of the children.

In my mothers case, she was given up for adoption to “good” “god-fearing” parents. The elder of the household was a rapist.

Due to my disability my son was taken into care of the state and given into the care of foster parents. I even saw their home. The place was plastered with images of Jesus and crosses and inspiration religious material. He was molested.

These supposedly able bodied normal people. These kind good hearted loving people. I have known much misery in my life, and [...] Continue to Seek…

Feeling Safe

It is safe to say that both mortification of the flesh and the stock market crash are manifestations of something. We learn by testing. We learn by trial, and in the past there have been trials of all kinds. Now we are putting our trade on trial. People want to feel safe and will create risk to test and see if they are safe. When you test the flesh you can see that there is more beyond flesh. For me it was my juvenile seizures, for others it may be something very different. It is like the wounded healer phenomenon, often we don’t know how strong something is until it falls apart.

If we want to feel safe, why test the limits when we already know we are safe? We don’t already know we are safe, and we teach each other endlessly that an ally can become an enemy. That resources [...] Continue to Seek…

Natural Rhythm

Example of a modern mortification of the flesh: caffeine. It tends to make us feel very alert, but also uncomfy.  However, it is so taken for granted that it is little questioned in general and we schedule our time and lives around an unnatural rhythm. It has a positive affect for some and isn’t an evil. I use it to still my nerves, and the Buddha recommended tea.  But we aren’t using it to understand a natural rhythm or to feed a natural desire, not normally.

Can you define natural rhythms and desires? Biologically it has been found that we are naturally grazing animals. We biologically want small amounts of food throughout the day, but are conditioned to eat larger amounts and at set times. There is no beneficial reason, but it is to serve an idea that most still adhere to. Just fits the 9 to 5 life.

Perhaps it [...] Continue to Seek…
