It is pretty gross that they want me to drink Jesus’ blood. The ritual drinking of Jesus’ blood was considered to allow in the sharing of Jesus spirit and thus by extension the holy spirit. The idea behind it was considered to be a way of inviting a form of sacred possession, and ritual cannibalism and consumption of blood was often undertaken for this purpose. There are modern accounts of those so affected by the rite of the sacrament that they developed ulcerated palms, feet, wrist, ankles, the whole suit of wounds.
Was that psychosomatic? The wounds? Psychosomatic means originating from the soul, manifesting in the body, so yes.
Does that also have anything to do with friends doing a blood brother ritual? Does it actually have an effect? It does. The blood brother ritual was considered to make it impossible to betray the other, because you were bound in blood and the other would become aware of your disloyalty.
I think lovers over time get their awareness too without even asking. Well, physical intimacy is a blood magick. There is no real separation between blood magick and sex magick, and they both are considered to have the same operative mechanism.
Blood magick is considered to be able to give life to intention. So blood on a talisman gave birth to a temporary spirit that would do as the talisman was intended. Blood on a weapon was considered to feed the spirit of the weapon. This is why very old swords were seen as lesser deities. They were considered to have that much power built up.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
